We kicked off February “Heart Month” with a program from The American Heart Association’s Tracy Behnke. Her reminder to be vigilant to heart health during these sequestered months was timely. We will hear from a familiar voice when Nate Watson tells us of the local Jaycees happenings this coming week.
As we heard at this week’s meeting there are multiple opportunities to be of service to our community currently. Two involve our club’s long standing drive to promote literacy. We need volunteers to “get the word out” about The Imagination Library, a joint venture with our club, Kent Free Library and Portage County United Way. It can provide an age appropriate book monthly to children from birth to 5 years of age. Contact Curt Stumpf or Stacey Richardson to volunteer. Next is an opportunity to volunteer to record a reading of a children’s story for use during our upcoming literacy week with Kent School’s. Contact Kelly Tremaine or Shawn Gordon to volunteer. Also, we need volunteers for the Lord’s Lunch, a program to help feed the community on February 20, contact Carol Crimi. Finally, Rachel Kerns is looking for online judges for the district 4 Way Speech Contest. Should be something for everybody to get involved with in a safe yet extremely beneficial project.
