Dear Rotary Friends,
Our June 14th meeting will be held at Walls Elementary (900 Doramor St., Kent). IF YOU DID NOT SIGN UP FOR A LUNCH, PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU WANT BY MONDAY, JUNE 13TH. I apologize that I did not get the online sign up sent to everyone. The options are 1) Turkey and Bacon sandwich 2) Ham and Cheese sandwich, and 3) Vegie sandwich. All will come with coleslaw, chips and a large cookie. I will have bottles of water on hand. The cost is $10 per person.
I hope lots of you attended Grill for Good and the Bluffett Concert on Saturday. Both supported good causes, and as Rotarians, we are all about that!
In about 10 days (on June 24th)), under the leadership of Anita Herington, our Rotary Monarch Queen, we will be planting Milkweed at Towner’s Woods beginning at 2:00 pm on June 24th. If you can help, please meet in the parking lot at Towner’s Woods. There are more plants to be planted than last fall, so all who can help are much appreciated! If you have questions, reach out to Anita.
Our Story Walk project kicks off this Saturday, June 18th! Our club, in partnership with Main Street Kent, is once again hosting this month long literacy event in downtown Kent. This spring’s book is “Share Your Rainbow” posted in pages around store windows in Kent. Please be sure to bring your favorite child or grandchild (oh heck… you don’t need a kid for admittance… just come and enjoy the stories and the artwork in this lovely book). Thank you to the stores and everyone involved! This is another literacy project that our club has sponsored. Kudos to Curt Stumpf and Dave Myers for taking the lead for our club. If you bring the Mac and Cheese or Granola Bars to a meeting, we will collect them and ensure that they are delivered to the Ben Curtis Family Foundation.
Speaking of Curt Stumpf, we received his resignation as the Club Outreach Director for our club. Curt accepted a terrific opportunity to work in Colorado and he and his family are in the process of moving there. The board nominated Stacey Richardson to take over for Curt in that position and she accepted. So, welcome Stacey to the Kent Rotary Board! We are all thrilled!
The June Kent Rotary Board meeting will be held on Thursday, June 16th. Instead of our regular meeting, I am looking forward to finally welcoming the board and their spouses to my home for dinner. (If there is business to be done, rest assured, we will take care of it.)
