Congratulations to Will Underwood and his amazing committee of Rachel Kerns, Shawn Gordon, Dave Myers, Kelly Tremaine, Mark Pennell, Brian Bialik, Randy Smith, Matt Carter and Curt Stumpf for their work on Saturday’s District 6630 4-Way Speech Contest!!!  The event was a spectacular success due to all of their efforts!  WOW!

I am very excited about our program this Tuesday.  David Dix has invited my very good friend, Deb Saito, to speak.  Her program will be on Japanese-American Internment Camps.  Both of Deb’s parents were interned during World War II, so she has an intimate knowledge of the subject.  I am certain it will be a terrific program!

Have you registered for the District Conference yet?  Go to our District 6630 website (www.rotarydistrict6630.org) and you’ll find information on the conference and you can register for some or all of the conference.  A number of you signed up to let me know you were interested in attending the Saturday night dinner.  If you haven’t signed up yet, PLEASE consider joining us for dinner on Saturday evening, April 23rd.  In addition to its being our very own Governor Larry’s final conference evening, our club will be hosting a hospitality suite after dinner.

REMEMBER!  It’s also time to let the 2022 Auction Committee know what you’ll be donating at this year’s Rotary Auction.  The auction will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022.  More information will be coming, or you can reach out to Stacey Richardson (stacey.richardson@kentfreelibrary.org) or Lauren Talion (lauren.talion.un76@statefarm.com) with your questions or auction items.  We need lots of sponsors, too.  Please consider sponsoring the auction.  Dave Sommers is handling sponsorships.  He can be reached at dsommers@dsarchitecture.com.  It’s time to sign up!  Invite guests!  Let’s make this one the best ever!

Are you and/or your business a sponsor on the Rotary Club of Kent’s website and emails?  If so, it’s time to let Matt Carter know that you’re sponsoring again this year.  OR, if you are not currently a sponsor and would like to be (only $250/year), please reach out to Matt Carter (mcarter@ht.bank) and/or Roger Kramer (rogerkramer@gmail.com).

Thank you to President-Elect Dave for conducting a great meeting in my absence last week.  I had the pleasure of participating online via Zoom.  He did a terrific job and our new Zoom set-up in Pierson Hall worked very well!

With gratitude,

Kathy
