What a GREAT party!!!! Thank you to the 100th Anniversary Committee for organizing and orchestrating a fabulous celebration! It was fun to get dressed up and to see everyone else in party clothes. If you weren’t there, you missed a terrific event. There were too many awesome parts of the evening to mention in this note… but one of the highlights was the video Kent Rotarian put together titled “100 Years of Kent Rotary in 4 Minutes.” We will see if we can get it posted on our ClubRunner site and perhaps on our Kent Rotary Facebook page.
This week I am in California visiting my mother and President-Elect Dave will be running Tuesday’s meeting. If all goes as planned, I will be attending via Zoom.
Halloween is quickly approaching and we have the Family Friendly Halloween downtown on October 29th to which to look forward. Curt Stumpf is handling the collection of treats to give out that evening. Please bring in Halloween treats to share that evening from 5 to 7. I know Curt has several volunteers to be there, but if you want to help pass out candy and see the kids in costumes, please let him know and join the fun. Our location will be the gazebo.
It was decided at our Kent Rotary board meeting that instead of having a Rotary Holiday Dinner Party, we would have a Rotary Holiday Cocktail Party. It will be on Friday, December 3rd and include appetizers and a cash bar. Details will be forthcoming. Many thanks to Rebekah Kulis for stepping up (once again) to chair the event.
Please send me nominations for the Kent Rotarian of the Year. We will present this award at the Holiday Party. We have lots of “Service Above Self” folks in our club… send the names and the reason why your nominee is a good choice. The Board will discuss at our November meeting.
Speaking of upcoming events… we are the VERY early stages of planning our spring auction. We need to assemble a committee of dedicated folks to help. Stacey Richardson is considering chairing the event, but she has some big events happening in her life at about that same time next spring. There is much to be done and we need lots of members to get involved. Please see me or Dave Myers if you can help.
We need more members to help with the audio/visual aspect of our meetings. The committee of about six has dwindled to two or three. If we are going to be able to have hybrid meetings, which have been wonderful, we need more assistance. The more people we have helping, the less the burden is on any one member. Thank you!
Thanks again to the 100th Anniversary Committee! I look forward to seeing you in person on November 2nd. In the meantime, Asad has assured me that this week’s program will be the best one yet.
