Hi Rotarians and Friends!
Great News!!! We will be returning to Pierson Hall on February 8th! We have worked with the church to ensure that we have the technology needed to continue to have hybrid meetings AND the nicer atmosphere and better acoustics of Pierson Hall. We will have lunch beginning that date as well. See below for more details on the lunch option.
In the meantime, for this Tuesday, January 25th and next Tuesday, February 1st, we will continue to meet in person, not serve lunch, and request that everyone wear masks during the meeting.
This Tuesday, January 25th we will welcome a new member to the fold. Bill Russell has been approved for membership and is looking forward to joining our club. I hope you can all be present (either in person or via Zoom) to welcome our newest club member.
As this club did not have its annual fundraising auction for the last two years, we are anxious to get moving on this year’s event. If you are interested in knowing more or participating in any way, please join us in Pierson Hall after our meeting this Tuesday. Attending the meeting does not commit you to helping out, but we hope all club members will either join us or let me know you are interested in helping. Proceeds from our fundraiser are primarily used by our Kent Rotary Foundation to fund worthy projects in our community. The Foundation funds are depleted due to the lack of fundraisers. Let’s work together to have a successful and FUN fundraiser!
This Tuesday is one of the most popular programs of the year. The “How to….” Program. Several members will share “how to” to do one thing or another. In the past, we have learned how to make a perfect hamburger, fold a fitted sheet, make a perfect martini, play a tune on a turkey baster (one of my personal faves!), and properly speak into a microphone. I can’t wait to see what we will learn this week!
Regarding lunch at our February 8th meeting. As you know, we have not served lunch in person since the beginning of the year due to Covid concerns. We have had great Zoom participation during the month, which is quite rewarding. We want to be sure that when we serve lunch on February 8th, we have adequate attendance if we are going to have the Methodist Women serve us. We have committed to guaranteeing them at least 40 lunches each week. If there are fewer members than that buying lunch, the club must cover those costs. As you can imagine, they add up quickly. We will be sending a questionnaire out to everyone to find out if you will be attending in person and buying lunch on the 8th. If there are 40 or more, we will have the Church Women prepare lunch. If not, we will order lunch from a local restaurant as we did last summer. Look for the email in the next day or so… and PLEASE respond one way or the other.
Thanks to Sandy Roeger for once again stepping in for David Dix. She will be with us again this week. She is doing this out of the kindness of her heart. Please let her know how much you appreciate her music when you see her. We hope David and Janet have had a great vacation and look forward to having him back at the keyboard. Thanks so much to both Sandy and David for keeping the music going in our club!
Let’s Serve to Change Lives!
With gratitude,
Kathy
