Another reminder of our 100 year history.
Some of us remember the Opera House downtown on the corner of North Water and Columbus Streets, now the location of Hometown Banks Drive-thru.  Our club held one of its meetings in 1927 there as the guest of its owner and Rotarian John Palfi. The show at the Opera House was “The Rough Riders”, showing “Teddy”in  all his glory.

Also that year  at the city election on November 8th, member Norman Beal was elected Mayor of the city, thus another honor to Kent Rotary.

Lastly, at the July installation of our officers and President Dick Richards, the speaker of that day was a new member, Dr. James Engleman, recently elected President of Kent State College.  He addressed the gathering on “What Rotary Means to Me.” He had been a member of  four different Rotary Clubs, served as President of one of them and two years later was President again of our club.

Another reminder of our 100 year history.
