A note from President Rachel
Thank you to our club members for giving me the opportunity to share my experiences I had at the Presidential Peace Conference. I found that I had taken so many notes, pictures, and met so many people...that I didn't have enough time Tuesday to tell everyone about my favorite group of people that I met and got to spend an evening with. Being a solo guest, without other club or district members to sit with, I ended up taking a seat at a table with seven wonderful people from Japan. Despite language barriers, these wonderful people and I bonded over delicious food, fantastic wine, and we shared wonderful stories about our lives. I could not believe how much fun we had that night and we immediately friended each other on Facebook. My new friends took a lot of wonderful pictures...including posing  with glasses raised and pictures of us putting "bunny ears" on each other. I was honored to spend time with such wonderful people. We've already talked about mutual visits in the future. This chance meeting reminded me that these conferences are not only a great way to think more about ways to expand peace, but a great way to expand our peer groups and to make forever friends!!!

PRESENTATION:
Kaleena Gharky introduced President Rachel Kerns, who discussed her participation at the 2025 Rotary Presidential Peace Conference in Istanbul, Turkey, in February.  Held at one of the largest hotels in the world, Rachel enjoyed Turkish food and meeting delegates, who numbered more than 1,000.

One of the topics discussed throughout the conference involved “Peace in a Polarized World.”  Rachel said she was proud of the inclusiveness of our club and its involvement in the Rotary Peace Fellows program.  District 6630 contributes $25,000 each year to the Peace Fellows.
