Past-President Roger's Digital Meeting Notes-July  6, 2020
Dear Kent Rotarians,

As the newly minted Immediate Past-President, I want to extend a heartfelt “thank you” for all your support during this very interesting Rotary Year. I hope I, and the board, operated in a way that reflected the historical heart of our club, as well as providing thoughtful leadership in setting priorities for our future. One of our Club’s greatest strengths is the process of succession, beginning with the Program Director, moving through President-Elect, and President. It provides a seamless transition at the end of the year, but also provides an opportunity for a person to enter and bring new ideas to the team. I want to encourage all members to give thoughtful consideration to stepping up and becoming part of the succession process. Again, thank you for the opportunity to serve as President this past year!

Roger Sidoti

We Welcome a New President/Watch It on Our New YouTube Channel
In a video presentation shared at last Tuesday’s Zoom Rotary Meeting, Dr. Randy Smith was inducted as President for the 2020-21 Rotary Year. Randy’s 36-year dedication to Rotary serves as an outstanding foundation to lead the club into our second century!

For those who missed last week, the Induction of President Randy and the Rotary Club Board video can be accessed on our Rotary YouTube Channel with this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-rVWbBaYhuOCjcuvpZdMNw

This week our July Program Chair, Laing Kennedy, kicks off his month with KSU Athletic Director, Joel Nielsen! With all college athletics being impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, this should be very informative for everyone. See you on Tuesday!

Another Kent Rotary Technology First
A big THANK YOU to Roger Kramer who created the Kent Rotary YouTube Channel. We will upload all of our Rotary Programs on this channel! For most of us, our Zoom meeting journey has been a technological stretch, but we have persevered by helping one another adapt. Do not hesitate to ask other club members if you need any help in navigating our tech updates!

Todd credited Alyssa Mazey with creating the survey.

President Sidoti thanked the membership for all the contributions to the Rotary Foundation.  He also announced over $4,000 in dues is already in.  Way to go!  Lastly, he thanked the membership for all their support and the board for their time.

Program:

Following the traditions of the past an induction ceremony was held.  This one, a little different, was held by recorded video over zoom.  Roger S. was able to successfully hand over the President’s pin from 1941 to new President Smith.

Here are the leaders for the 2020-2021 Rotary year.

President Elect            Kathy Myers
Program Chair            David Myers
Secretary                     Justin Gates
Treasurer                     Mathew Carter
Membership Director Todd Kamenash
Club Outreach            Curt Stumpf

Newly sworn in President Smith then took to the podium.  He thanked Roger for all his leadership in the past year.  President Smith then introduced Larry Lohman who thanked Bruce Hansford for his help at the district level over the past years.

President Smith gave thanks to everyone for putting together the induction ceremony.  He thanked Rick Bissler for sponsoring him 36 years ago.  He also mentioned Larry Lohman will be the third Kent Rotarian to serve as District Governor.  Also, Kathy and David Myers might be the first mother and son team on the board.

President Smith then went on to cover the 2020-2021 Budget, Strategic Plan, and the timeline.  All of which are available online for your review.  He did request, to help with the budget, each Rotarian donate a check for $40 to help cover the income being lost from not having our lunch income while meeting on zoom.  The checks can be made to the Rotary Club of Kent.

Response:  Jim Myers

Respectfully submitted:
