NEW MEMBER
Executive Director of the Portage Foundation Janice Simmons-Mortimer was introduced by Dennis Campbell. Janice, who lives in Hiram, is involved in a number of organizations and holds a master’s degree from Kent State University.
SPEAKER
Jennifer Kulics, who serves as Senior Development Director of the Northeast Ohio American Heart Association, was introduced by Dave Myers.
Jennifer served in a number of positions in her 25+ years at Kent State University, including Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement.
A lifelong athlete, Jennifer talked about the leadership lessons she learned playing basketball from her dad and her high school and Bowling Green State University coaches.
She received both a master’s and doctorate at Kent State University, where her mentors included Coach Bob Lindsay and retired Athletic Director Laing Kennedy. She said Laing was the best boss she ever had, and she embraced his philosophy that “There never is a right way to do a wrong thing.”
