Please come to our Rotary Holiday Party. It will be on Friday, December 3rd from 5:30 to 8:00 pm and include heavy appetizers and a cash bar. Reservations are due THIS TUESDAY, NOV. 23rd at 1:30 pm. The cost will be $28 per person. For those of us who were at the 100th Anniversary Gala, we know how wonderful it was to be together and enjoy our Rotary friendships! Even though a full meal will not be served, the appetizers should provide enough sustenance for a light supper. Please bring your significant other and guests and join us! (The invitation says the party starts at 6:00 pm. Please come between 5:30 and 6:00… we will have a short presentation at 6:45 pm.) Who will be the Kent Rotarian of the Year? We had a number of nominations for very deserving club members. Please come to the party on Dec. 3rd to find out who was selected.
The Story Walk literacy project that the Rotary Club of Kent is sponsoring will have its launch this week! Be downtown on Saturday (Small Business Saturday) to support our club and this special literacy project. Club members and others will be reading the Dav Pilkey book, “Dragon’s Merry Christmas” at the Kent Stage several times between 10 and 2 that day. We will be helping to host a coat/mitten/hat drive for members of our community who need those necessary warm items this winter. Donation boxes will be at the 17 Kent businesses with a page of the book in their store windows.
As I mentioned prevoiusly, we are the VERY early stages of planning our spring auction. We need to assemble a committee of dedicated folks to help. Stacey Richardson is considering chairing the event, but she has some big events happening in her life at about that same time next spring. There is much to be done and we need lots of members to get involved. Please let me or Dave Myers know if you will be part of this wonderful and important event. It is because of the money that our auction raises that we are able to financially support various worthy causes in our community.
Also mentioned last week, we need more members to help with the audio/visual aspect of our meetings. The committee of about six has dwindled to two or three. If we are going to be able to have hybrid meetings, which have been wonderful, we need more assistance. The more people we have helping, the less the burden is on any one member. Thank you!
