From the Silver Anniversary Edition History of the Kent Rotary Club

One of our former club presidents, W.W. Reed, for which the Kent Medal for Public Service is named, in January of 1927 was elected to the Presidency  of the Kent Chamber of Commerce.  He gave the same type of unselfish service, that he had given to Kent Rotary, to the Chamber of Commerce.  It’s recorded and is evident by the fact that he was elected to this office for eight consecutive years!  Another Rotarian, Glen Reed was elected treasurer.  At the meeting of the club on February 1, Rotary President Frank Elgin, congratulated the new president of the chamber and announced that all but 9 of the Rotary club members were members of the Chamber of Commerce and that 9 of the 11 elected directors of the chamber were Rotarians.

Service by Rotarians to the chamber has continued for these past 100 years to 2020!
