Another reminder of our 100 year history.
John W. Salter, Plant Manager of the Lamson  & Sessions Company was elected the President of Kent Rotary in 1929. A special monetary fund was started during his tenure as president, with  members being fined for late arrival. Later a plate was occasionally passed among Rotarians with a suggestion that loose pennies in their pockets be deposited therein. Many members deposited coins of larger denominations. Later the club voted at various times to charge for each luncheon ticket a small amount in excess of the cost and deposit the difference in the “Special Fund”.  Over the years liberal contributions from this fund have been made to various charities in Kent. This “Special Fund”, became an established feature of Kent Rotary finances.
