James Green was our President during the year 1935.

That year Kent Rotary played an important part in relief work necessitated by the Depression. The following members assumed leadership roles of various organizations.

Emmet Stopher was elected President of the Kent Welfare Association. Many members energetically participated in the Community Chest Drive.  Will Reed had charge of the drive for finds that raised more than the quota set by the Welfare Association

Amos Herr was re-elected President of the Portage County chapter of the American Red Cross.

Free Musselman was in charge of the Easter Seals for Crippled Children.

While Rotarians were busy with relief programs they did not forget their obligation to the unfortunate and dependent children in the community.

After reading that account, I realized I was a 4 year old at the time but fortunately not among those dependent!

Another moment in our history.
