ANNOUNCEMENTS: President Dave Myers announced the death of Dick Carter, father of Rotarian Matt Carter, who was Kent Rotary President in 1982-83. John Flynn announced the death of Betty Gressard, wife of deceased Kent Rotarian, Fred Gressard. Volunteers are needed to “man” the booth for Kent Rotary at the Kent Heritage Festival on Saturday, July 1. According to President Dave, this is the first time in many years that Kent Rotary has had a presence at the festival. Sign up next week. Asad Khan announced that next week we will have a “clap out” for outgoing president Dave and a welcome for our “charming” new president. SPEAKER: Introduced by Kathy Myers, Hattie Tracy is the President and CEO of Coleman Health Services. She has worked for more than 20 years in the field of mental health and substance abuse disorders. Hattie received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in Public Policy from Kent State University. She and her husband and their two daughters live in Kent. Hattie reviewed statistics detailing the number of Americans of all ages who experience mental illness. Coleman Health Services has a history of trusted growth with 850 employees in 20 counties. Hattie credited much of this growth to former CEO Nelson Burns. She shared client stories, which showed the impact of Coleman’s services on lives and communities and detailed how Coleman professionals have helped people in their darkest moments. In addition, Hattie thanked Kent Rotarians for their support of Coleman and its projects, including a playground at the Rhodes Road site. Coleman’s annual fundraiser, now rebranded as “Changing Destinies,” will be held on Thursday, September 14. Responder was Nelson Burns.
