A note from President Dave
Dear Rotarians,

A big thank you to Todd, Amanda and Denise for bringing some welcomed levity to our Election Day meeting with a debate on hard hitting issues like soda v. pop and whether or not pineapples belong on pizza. I was hoping we would settle whether or not cereal is a soup but alas, we'll have to save that for our next debate!

Please remember to save the date and RSVP for our upcoming holiday party on December 2nd. The party is all about fun and fellowship to kick off the holiday season so make sure you plan to attend with your spouse, partner or friend!

We're still seeking nominations for Rotarian of the Year which can be sent to me in an email. We're so fortunate to have a club full of worthy candidates but this is a great opportunity to recognize a member who has gone above and beyond in their service to the club this past year. Send those nominations to: dmyers11@gmail.com.

Have a great week ahead and see you on Tuesday!

Yours in Service,

Dave

Program
Todd Kamenash, Amanda Senn, and Denise Baba:   ELECTION DABATE

This was a clever program designed and implemented by Todd, Amanda, and Denise.  It was set up as a panel debate, whereby Denise Baba (moderator) would read from a series of pre-determined topics, that in turn was presented to the two panelists (Amanda and Todd).  Each argued opposing viewpoints about the same.  It was a clever display of intellect and wit, pitting each panelist against the other.  Rotarians were asked to submit votes about which argument was most compelling.  Topics and results are listed below…

The topics stayed well away from politics, focusing on more worldly notions.

Notions such as …

Who’s better…the Beatles or the Rolling Stones?

Todd took an early lead supporting the Beatles, while Amanda’s argument withered as the debate moved on.

Pineapples on pizza?

Amanda bounced back quickly by pointing out that Todd was clearly confused, citing credible sources such as Hotdog.com to support her assertions.

Soda or pop?

While Amanda made a blunt plea referencing the Midwest’s unwritten code that pop rules, Todd was well-prepared with his exhaustive research to counter that statement, which apparently swayed the voters.

Cats versus dogs
No contest here…dogs rule and cats drool.  Amanda pulls into a tie.

The contest was forced into a tiebreaker that ruled in favor of Amanda, prompting a rebuke from Todd who was quoted in a post contest interview as saying “aliens posing as Rotarians were stuffing the ballot box…”

No one was willing to respond...
