A note from Past-President Rachel
I thought I would take the opportunity in my last eBulletin message to tell you how much this year of service meant to me. When I first accepted the Presidency, I remember thinking how stressful my year would be, and I was seriously wondering how I would manage it all. I played out in my head all of the Tuesday morning PowerPoints, the responsibilities of navigating a board of directors and all the other obligations that would arise in between. This week, as I thanked everyone and turned the luncheon gavel over to Amanda, I was surprisingly reminded of that moment. I also found myself thinking how quickly the year went. What was most shocking for me was the fact that my recollection of my presidency did not bring up memories of stress...it brought up memories of extreme gratification. Wonderful guest speakers, fantastic conferences and connections made...and so many Kent Rotary successes filled my heart and head as I said goodbye. Thank you all for making my year incredible and I look forward to the fantastic succession plan we have in place. I'll be a phone call away if Amanda needs me for anything and I'll be awaiting my next step towards greater Rotary service. Have a wonderful 4th and an even greater summer!

BOARD MEMBER AND PRESIDENTIAL INDUCTION:

Out-going President Rachel Kerns encouraged members to celebrate the successes of the last year by viewing a PowerPoint of photos of club events.  She updated the group on accomplishments this year, including adding new members, compiling a list of board member duties, emailing the bulletins earlier in the week and expanding the music selections.
Rachel thanked a number of members who helped with specific events, including Rebekah Wright Kulis, Holiday party; Dominique Bollenbacher and Nithya Venkataraman, chairing the auction committee and handling Facebook and social media; and Foundation Chair Nancy Whitehead and the Foundation Board.  She called special attention to the Methodist Church, the lunch workers and volunteers.

Bill Childers handled the induction ceremony, as he was the advocate for our new president, Amanda Senn.

Amanda, the seventh woman president in the Club’s 105 years, is a Roosevelt High School graduate and Ohio State alum.  She and her husband David have two children and live in Kent.  Amanda joined the Rotary Club of Kent in 2017.

In her remarks, Amanda praised Rachel as “An outstanding leader, who led with integrity, compassion and purpose.”  Amanda vowed “to carry forward the momentum” in her term.

Board members were inducted as part of the ceremony.  See the list in the left column.
