The Salvation Army of Portage County Red Shield Food Pantry 
The Salvation Army is in need of volunteers on the first Wednesday of each month for the  Red Shield Food Pantry. Located in the parking lot at 800 E Summit St Kent, OH 44242 ( Corner of E. Summit St & Horning Rd.)  
 
Time: 8:00AM - 11:00AM
 
June 3 , July 1 , August 5 , September 2 , October 7 , November 4 , December 2.

Kent Rotary Flag Program
The Rotary Club of Kent is excited to introduce the Kent Rotary Flag Program, and community-wide initiative designed to honor our nation, beautify our neighborhoods, and support meaningful local projects. Entirely volunteer-driven, this program offers residents and businesses a simple and patriotic way to celebrate America's most cherished holidays. Join us in creating a powerful display of unity across Kent - one flag at a time.
 
An annual subscription is $55, and the flag can be displayed at your home or business.

Past President Dr. Randy Smith, called the meeting to order at 12:18

Our patriotic song was God Bless America led by Mrs. Roeger on piano.

It was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance

Invocation by Paul Organ

Dominique Bollenbacher led us in singing If You’re Happy and You Know It

Birthdays:

We got to hear from Howard Boyle, whose birthday was back in April- the Green Briar is where he likes to go. Most unique thing, flying on an air craft carrier.

 

May- Chris Martin- His daughter Sarah in Cali, got them a permit to hike Mt. Whitney, the highest mountain in 48 states.

Tom Meyers- Rome, Italy is his favorite place. Most unique Kairouan in Tunisia. He went for business and helped christen the first drilling machine in this area.

Christie Anderson- grew up in Salem, Ohio and they had a family tradition of going to the cemetery of the family and sharing stories.

 

 

TODAY’S SPEAKER/PROGRAM

Introduction- Denise Baba

Speaker- Diana Clarke- Executive Director, Portage Co Guardianship Service Board

Prior to joining the Guardianship Service Board, Diana served as the Court Administrator and attorney for the Probate and Mental Health Department of the Ariziona Superior Court in Maricopa County. More recently, Diana was Director for a nonprofit organization that provided services, programs and activities for local seniors and persons with disabilities in Northern California. Her past work in these areas will help in developing new PCGSB community partnerships and in carrying out its Mission of providing trustworthy public guardianships that safeguard incapacitated, vulnerable adults whenever necessary.

They are the guardians of last resort appointed by the probate court. They also help people walk through the process of becoming a guardian to someone. There are 14 counties who has this program.

613 active guardian cases- and they run the public guardianships, with 94 cases, and they serve as guardians of 70 cases.

They receive most funding from Coleman, Adult Protective Services, Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities among other organizations.

Coleman and other nursing homes are who refer people to this organization. They also help get benefits and support the wards are entitled to receive. They also work with hospitals to create discharge plans.

What is our Rotary Banner Exchange?

The Rotary Banner Exchange will serve as a meaningful closing of Bob Oborn’s District Governor term with district awards and a kickoff for my term as District Governor, highlighting the strong bonds that connect each of our local clubs.

What to expect? 

We will start with a cocktail hour, followed by the awards program, and conclude with the installation of new district officers. Attire is business casual.
