His favorite was in NYC where he saw Junior Wells, the greatest harmonica player in the world. Dave Summers birthday is June 17. His first concert was at Chippewa Lake when he was a senior in high school. He doesn't remember the band but he does remember his parents letting him drive there with his girlfriend. His favorite was the Moody Blues at Blossom. Sue Hetrick's birthday is June 25. She remembered that Bruce Hansford's birthday was always the day before hers and wondered what his first and favorite concerts would be. Her first concert was the folk group Chad Mitchell Trio. Her favorite was hearing The Three Tenors at Cleveland Municipal Stadium on her birthday. Free lunch was won by Tammy Hunter who wasn't in attendance. Speaker: Past District Governor Larry Lohman introduced District Governor David Jones. The club gave the governor a standing ovation Dave Jones gave a brief introduction of his background and his year as district governor Dave comes from a military family. His Dad served 30 years in the Air Force. Dave lived in five countries growing up. Since returning to the US, he has lived in four states. He and his wife Georgeann have been married since 2019. Together they have four adult children, three sons and one daughter who just presented them with their first grandson Our district governor took RI President Jennifer Jones's motto of Imagine what our clubs can do to help their communities and the world to heart. His focus has been on increasing membership by reestablishing relationships with members or bringing in new members. We have only been able to be together in person for 370 days during that time membership has increased 202; his goal was 200. Unfortunately due to deaths, the district's member gain is only 17 above last year. Another goal was to engage our clubs with other service organizations to bring back projects and fund raisers now that we can be together. He has tried to continue Past District Governor Larry Lohman's focus on getting the word out about Rotary through changing the front page of the district newsletter and showing our clubs in action. Other accomplishments included successful fund raising for the Rotary Foundation. Last July 301 Rotarians participated in the Rotary Guardians game raising $6,000 for Polio Plus. The district's foundation committee is chaired by Larry Lohman and Shawn Gordon is a valuable member of that committee. The committee held a workshop on how to write grant proposals and gave 31 grants this year. Governor Jones said there are now 30 interact clubs and RYLA is this week with a capacity of 60 young people. He said the highlight for him was working with Interact and the clubs. Response was given by President Dave Myers.
